Driving Fast, Taking Chances History:
The year was 1994; it was the dawning of a new revolution, that of the
technology revolution. The principal driver of this ride would be under the
direction of the new CEO. He came to this little antivirus company with
great aspirations of building the next great enterprise computing behemoth,
which would rival the likes of Oracle, Microsoft, and his alma mater Sun
Microsystems. In his late 40’s with debonair looks, and creative business
style, he was ready to take on the world in our journeys. He ended all
meetings with his mantra “Drive Fast, Take Chances” and so we did.
Driving Fast, Taking Chances Philosophy:
Driving Fast and
Taking Chances, it wasn't his mantra, it became the lifestyle by which we
lived our lives everyday. Young minds, brains of clay, molded by a common
geek filled idea that we really could change the world. It was the 1990's in
Silicon Valley, there were no rules, and those that existed were meant to be
reinvented and rewritten. Unlike the Hewlett & Packard, Jobs & Woz, Xerox,
Atari, Fairchild and National Semi before us in the Valley, we were here to
reinvent ourselves and the world.
Actors migrate to Hollywood, thinkers
migrate to Silicon Valley and this is part of the story!
